Structure

ILAN is governed by a 30-person Board of Directors, who appoint a Director General and executive staff to oversee ILAN’s operations.  The Board is elected by the General Assembly, a convention of ILAN’s members, who are its volunteers.

Local Branches

More than forty local ILAN branches, located throughout Israel, provide the variety of services and therapies required to permit disabled individuals to realize their potential and attain maximum independence.  Local branch staff assist in placing children and adults in ILAN-supported institutions, including kindergartens, schools for special education, child development centers, vocational training centers and sheltered workshops, rehabilitation and occupational centers, and residential homes for disabled adults.  Where possible, staff help integrate disabled children into the community’s regular education structure. The local branches provide social rehabilitation services, and ILAN volunteers assist in sports and social activities, such as social clubs, hobbies and after-school activities, summer day and sleep-in camps, and in other activities that promote integration.  The local branches also host support groups for parents and siblings, and provide transportation assistance in customized vehicles.  To see a map of the local branches please go to this link.

Assistance Committee

A national assistance committee appointed by the ILAN Board responds to individual requests for financial aid.  The Assistance Committee helps families purchase wheelchairs, walkers, customized private vehicles, and disabled-accessible computers and software.  It makes funds available for supplementary paramedical treatment, tutoring, and enrichment classes.  Families apply for help through their local ILAN branch; the national Assistance Committee reviews these applications and decides on the allocation of funds.
